Yankees finalize 5-year deal with Chapman
Closer's $86 million contract is largest given to relief pitcher
NEW YORK -- Aroldis Chapman and the Yankees have finalized the largest contract ever handed to a relief pitcher, formally announcing the completion of the left-handed closer's five-year, $86 million contract on Thursday.
Chapman and the Yankees agreed to the deal during last week's Winter Meetings in National Harbor, Md., and a conference call will be held on Friday morning. Chapman recently told ESPN that his positive experiences playing in New York pushed him to sign on for an encore performance.-mlb.com
